Haggis Sandwich
So itās Burns Night, itās also my Dadās Birthday (actually itās his 60th but sshhhhhhh) and Iām dashing out to meet him for a drink after work. Thereās just enough time to have a quick bath and grab something to eat and Iāve got a craving for haggis, now the boy doesnāt like it so thereās not much point me cooking a whole one and I havenāt got time to prepare a full mealā¦ā¦but I found some Macsween haggis slices in Waitrose at lunchtime. Obviously these are way overpriced for 2 tiny thin slices, but itās payday and like I explained, Iāve got a craving and sometimes these things have got to be indulged.

I just fried the haggis slice and some onion, bunged in a ciabatta roll, finished with slices of mozzarella and handfuls of wild rocket and toasted it all in the panini press till the cheese started to meltā¦..
And itās actually not bad, I think most food can be enhanced by surrounding it lovingly in bread and the peppery rocket cuts through the rich haggis nicely, with the sweetness of the onions and goo factor from the cheese, this works. No denying itās dirty food, but it tastes good and I think itās gonna be a pretty good stomach liner for the gins Iāll be knocking back later!
